2018-2019 LETTER OF INTENT
The purpose of the Great Start Collaborative of Jackson County is to form a countywide network with diverse representation from all sectors of the community, including: education and child care, health and human services, businesses, faith-based organizations, and families. Together we work to ensure Jackson County children are born healthy, developmentally on track, ready to succeed when entering school, and are reading proficiently by the end of third grade.
Completing this Letter of Intent is the first step in the application process for receiving funds from the Great Start Collaborative/Early Childhood Program grant (32p). The deadline for submission is Friday, June 8th at 12:00 P.M.
Before applying, please note the following funding parameters to ensure your program qualifies.
1) Must align with at least one of the Great Start Collaborative Early Childhood Outcomes, which are:
- Children are born healthy.
- Children are healthy, thriving, and developmentally on track from birth to third grade.
- Children are developmentally ready to succeed in school at the time of school entry.
- Children are prepared to succeed in fourth grade and beyond by reading proficiently by the end of third grade.
2) Must serve children or parents of children ages 0-8, but cannot solely target 4 year olds.
3) Must collect demographic information on each child served/impacted by the program.
4) Must be evidence-based, research-based, or an emerging practice.
You will need to complete the Letter of Intent in one sitting. The software will not allow you to save your work and return to it. You may want to complete your responses separately and then copy/paste them into this form. Keep your responses brief, but clear. There is a 300 word limit per question/section, with the exception of the Proposed Program Name and Description section.
Upon submission of the Letter of Intent, you will receive an email requesting a general budget that describes how the Great Start Collaborative funding will support your program. The deadline for budget submission is Friday, June 22nd at 12:00 P.M.
After reviewing complete applications (Letter of Intent and program budget), you may be invited to attend our July Executive Committee meeting to give a brief, ten-minute presentation on your program.
Please note: This funding cycle runs from October 1st, 2018-July 31st 2019.
